Is Mica Powder Safe For Lips?

Mica powder is made up of natural ingredients and is non-toxic so you can use them on lips as well as on your body.

Mica powders are very essential for making glittery wax, candles, bath bombs, and also adding the vibrant colors to your art projects, but when it comes on cosmetic usage there are few things that we have to keep in mind.

Because some mineral coatings must be applied to the translucent ground mineral to achieve the vibrant colors and that special shine that micas give. some ingredients are not considered lip-safe and we should avoid those ingredients because lips are considered as one of the most sensitive part of our body. For instance, any colorant containing Chromium Oxide Greens, Ferric Ferrocyanide, or Ultramarines shouldn’t be used on lip products. DIY Lip Balm and Lip Gloss Recipe with Mica Powder:

Here is a fun Lip balm recipe from which you can make your own 100% natural lip balm and gloss with 100% natural ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • ¼  cup beeswax
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 ½  teaspoon almond oil
  • ¼ teaspoon of mica powder(of your own choice)

Instructions:

  1. Melt beeswax and coconut oil in a double boiler
  2. Add the almond oil
  3. Stir in the mica powder
  4. Carefully pour into containers or lip balm tubes
  5. Let it cool
  6. Use as needed

PROCESS:

 

Add ¼ or ½ for your flavored mica to your lip gloss or lip balm tube. For your reference, 1 bag of TECHAROOZ mica bag sample set holds 10 grams of pigment, This amount is enough to make 10 tube of 10ml lip gloss and also lip balms.
You can use any mica base to make the gloss and balms but the color will be more sheer and vibrant in the clear base. Clearer the base more pearlescent and beautiful the gloss will be. It will show off its real and beautiful colors.
